Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) require timely diagnosis, yet access to laboratory-based testing remains limited in resource-constrained settings. This thesis presents the development and validation of Mobilab, a portable multi-analyte point-of-care testing (POCT) platform for decentralized biochemical diagnostics. The platform integrates spectrophotometric sensing, embedded electronics, IoT-enabled connectivity, and low-volume biochemical assays for rapid and quantitative detection of clinically relevant biomarkers. Analytical and clinical validation demonstrated strong agreement with reference laboratory analyzers, high diagnostic accuracy, and reliable performance using minimal sample volume and short turnaround time. Additionally, a low-cost microfluidic approach was developed to support multiplexed biochemical analysis. The developed system offers an affordable, portable, and clinically reliable solution for early disease screening and decentralized healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and resource-limited settings.
