The thesis is concerned with identification and control of single-input-single-output (SISO) and two-input-two-out (TITI) processes based on relay induced limit cycles. A relay based on-line identification method for stable and unstable SISO processes is proposed where the process model parameters are estimated from a single relay test. An ideal relay in parallel with a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller induces a limit cycle oscillation whose frequency and amplitude are used for the process identification. Firstly, the describing function (DF) analysis is used for the.......en_US
